Do you need to really relax?
Well, if you’re willing to accept some expert advice, here are just a few better ways to relax than to keep the social motor racing:
** Do the opposite of what you experience during the work week. E.g., if your work involves using your mind continually, then use your body after work for balance. It can be effective to either blow off steam through large movement or to move slowly as in Tai Chi, etc.
** Or, find a quiet place and just be: mindful (aware without judgment), grateful, accepting of now, tuned in to all that is natural, quiet in mind and movement.
** Experience something different or creative. E.g., blow bubbles, fly a kite,
write a poem, draw a picture, do a jigsaw puzzle, a craft, …anything that you can get lost or absorbed in.
** Use your senses by watching birds, listening to a stream, looking for butterflies, or having a snack outside by yourself, etc.
** Imagine that you are entirely at peace with yourself and have nothing more important to do in life than to simply learn how to genuinely love…
(And, the last suggestion really is the most important---and most effective.)
